
What's Happening?:
A bill in the state legislature, HB1255, takes the state's 4% off food. It maintains state revenue by adjusting the rate on non-food by 3/10%. It leaves the tax on pop & candy. If your non-food sales-taxable spending is less than about 12 times your groceries, you come out ahead.
It's something helpful the state can do in this hunger time.
